Perlmutter Cancer Center Social Work Services
Our social workers are focused on taking a holistic approach, including considering mental, physical, social, and spiritual health, in providing care and service to our patients.
The Department of Social Work Services at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ’s Perlmutter Cancer Center is a vital component of the interdisciplinary team that serves our patients. Our experienced licensed clinical social workers meet with patients, their family, and caregivers, and provide information, individual and group counseling, and community referrals to assist patients as they cope with their cancer diagnosis, treatment, and the distress that so commonly accompanies cancer.
Whether you’re receiving cancer treatment as an inpatient or an outpatient at Perlmutter Cancer Center, there are special support programs designed to answer your questions, reduce your stress, and improve your quality of life. These include our free legal assistance consultations, animal-assisted therapy with specially trained therapy dogs, a therapeutic writing group, chair massages during chemotherapy infusions, and more.
