In addition to our neonatal physicians, our nurse practitioners and physician assistants in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Tisch Hospital, part of Hassenfeld Children’s Hospital at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, collaborate with you to provide your baby with extra medical attention.
Our nurse practitioners look after infants in the NICU.
Ms. Angelo is a certified neonatal nurse practitioner. She provides care for high-risk infants in the NICU. Her responsibilities include neonatal physical assessment, resuscitation, and stabilization. She also performs procedures to improve outcomes, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, and develops specialized care plans in collaboration with the rest of the healthcare team.
Ms. DeSomma is a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner and board-certified high-risk neonatal nurse who provides care for high-risk infants in the neonatal ICU. She attends high-risk deliveries, performs physical exams, diagnoses and manages illnesses, orders and interprets medical tests, and performs procedures to support the baby’s health. She works in unison with the medical and interdisciplinary teams to provide the highest level of care.
Ms. Klemm is a board-certified neonatal nurse practitioner and a certified neonatal intensive care nurse. She assesses and cares for newborns in the NICU and offers support to their families.
Ms. Nielsen is a neonatal nurse practitioner who cares for premature babies and newborns with health problems. She attends high-risk deliveries, performs physical exams, diagnoses and manages illnesses, orders and interprets medical tests, and performs procedures to support the baby’s health. She enjoys watching her patients grow and mature during their hospital stay and getting to know their families.
Ms. Schmalberg-Baum has over 15 years of experience as NICU registered nurse and neonatal nurse practitioner and has been a member of the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ NICU advanced practice provider team since 2016. She works in the NICU with a holistic, family-centered approach from both medical and nursing perspectives, with an emphasis on culturally sensitive care and neuro-developmental care of extremely premature infants. Miriam attends high-risk deliveries, stabilizing infants and admitting infants to the NICU as necessary. Her roles include assisting with care management of newborn infants in the well-baby nursery and emergency room as deemed necessary as a member of the neonatal emergency response team. Miriam enjoys her role in educating NICU nurses and pediatric residents and training new advanced practice providers.
Physician assistants are also an essential part of our NICU’s collaborative care team.
Ms. Brewster is a board-certified physician assistant who has worked in the NICU for 19 years. Similar to her colleagues, Pam attends high risk deliveries, performs physical exams and procedures, and provides optimal care plans for her patients. In her free time, she enjoys teaching resuscitation skills as a Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Helping Babies Breathe instructor.
Ms. Burke is a certified physician assistant who specializes in neonatal intensive care. She collaborates with the NICU team to perform lifesaving procedures and optimize medical care for neonates. She enjoys helping her patients grow and meeting their families.
Ms. Bromley is a certified physician assistant who resuscitates, stabilizes, diagnoses, and manages critical illness in infants.
Ms. Domogala is a certified physician assistant who attends deliveries and cares for premature and full-term newborns with medical conditions by performing physical exams, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, creating treatment plans, and performing procedures. She previously worked as a mother–baby physician assistant in the newborn nursery for three years. She enjoys providing care, support, and hope for babies and their families throughout their NICU journey.
Ms. Kearney is a certified physician assistant who cares for full-term and premature infants. She performs physical exams, orders and interprets laboratory tests, develops management plans for health problems, and performs procedures to support the health of babies in the NICU.
Ms. Kuriakose is a certified physician assistant who attends deliveries, performs procedures in the NICU to ensure the health of the baby, and creates healthcare plans for patients. She enjoys talking to families and supporting them through their child’s stay.
Ms. Muscatella is a certified physician assistant. She assesses and cares for full-term and premature high-risk infants in the NICU. She attends deliveries, performs procedures, and develops care plans with the healthcare team.
Ms. Van Dusen is a certified physician assistant who cares for critically ill newborn babies. She participates in high-risk deliveries, performs neonatal resuscitation, and organizes medical management of patients on the unit. She enjoys facilitating her patients' healing and growth throughout their time in the NICU.
Ms. Wohlgemuth is a certified physician assistant who performs physical exams, diagnoses and manages illnesses, orders and interprets medical tests, and performs procedures to help ensure good outcomes for babies in the NICU.
