NYU Langone Medical Center’s Tisch Hospital and Rusk Rehabilitation have received Magnet® recognition for the third consecutive time by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet recognition is an honor achieved by only 7 percent of all hospitals in the United States. The ANCC’s prestigious Magnet Recognition Program® recognizes health care facilities that provide excellence in nursing and is one of the benchmarks used to measure the quality of care patients receive.

Such an honor is a testament to the dedication and commitment of all the staff here at Ƶ.
Ƶ is one of four hospitals in New York State and less than 2 percent of hospitals nationwide to receive this recognition at least three times consecutively. According to the ANCC, the leading nursing credentialing organization in the United States, Magnet designation is widely accepted as the gold standard of patient care. In fact, U.S. News & World Report’s annual showcase of “America’s Best Hospitals” includes Magnet recognition in its ranking criteria for quality of inpatient care.
The Magnet designation is granted every four years to only those organizations that demonstrate sustained superiority in nursing care. Applicants undergo an extensive evaluation and members granted Magnet status must continue to meet rigorous standards. To reapply for and receive Magnet status is confirmation of the hospital’s resolve to deliver the highest level of nursing care. Research shows that Magnet hospitals are more effective at attracting and keeping quality nurses.
