Thanks to generous support from U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand and U.S. Representative Nicole Malliotakis, Ƶ Health is the proud recipient of a $2 million federal grant that will be used to purchase six new advanced life support, energy-efficient ambulances.
“We are grateful for this support from Senators Schumer and Gillibrand and Congresswoman Malliotakis,” says Bret J. Rudy, MD, executive vice president and chief of hospital operations for Ƶ Hospital—Brooklyn. “These additional ambulances will help provide lifesaving care to our patients across Brooklyn as well as Staten Island.”
Ƶ’s emergency medical service team provides high-quality pre-hospital care throughout Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and Long Island, where we respond to approximately 80,000 911 calls and transport approximately 51,300 patients each year. This generous grant allows Ƶ to replace older ambulances and ensure reliable vehicles are on the road to respond to emergencies. The transition to energy-efficient ambulances will also help decrease air pollution in the communities we serve.
