Ƶ Is Among One-Third of Hospitals Nationwide to Earn Top Safety Rating from Leapfrog
NYU Langone Health’s Tisch Hospital, Kimmel Pavilion, Ƶ Hospital—Brooklyn, and Ƶ Hospital—Long Island were each awarded an “A” in the spring 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, an honor attained by only 33 percent of hospitals nationwide. It is the third consecutive time all of Ƶ’s hospitals have received top scores—and Ƶ remains the only health system in the New York metropolitan area with all “A”-rated hospitals.
“Rankings, such as Leapfrog, are just one example of outstanding quality and safety standards that are the hallmarks of our institution, and reflect a culture committed to excellence and continuous improvement,” says Robert I. Grossman, MD, chief executive officer of Ƶ Health and dean of NYU Grossman School of Medicine. “Receiving this score across all of our campuses underscores the fact that our patients receive the same standard of exceptional care no matter where they receive it within the Ƶ Health system.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 national performance measures reflecting errors, accidents, injuries, and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring.
Ƶ’s “A” ranking from Leapfrog is just one example of recognition for providing outstanding care. Ƶ has earned a five-star rating for safety, quality, and patient experience from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and has received top rankings for overall patient safety and quality of care from Vizient, Inc. In 2021, Ƶ’s ambulatory care practices ranked No. 1 in Vizient’s Ambulatory Care Quality and Accountability Ranking for demonstrating excellence in delivering high-quality outpatient care.
