Cervical Cancer Awareness Month is January. In an interview with News 12 Brooklyn, Kari E. Hacker, MD, PhD, a gynecologic oncologist at Ƶ Brooklyn Medical Arts Pavilion, discusses the importance of regular screenings and vaccines that are available to prevent cervical cancer and other associated cancers.
“Other countries where they do a better job of vaccinating, like Australia, they have almost eliminated pre–cervical cancer lesions and cervical cancer in young girls,” Dr. Hacker says.
