I come from a large Haitian family full of doctors, nurses, teachers, and therapists, but it was my pediatrician who inspired me to become a doctor. She was mild-mannered, and after an appointment would reassure me that I would feel better soon. I remember thinking, “I want to be like her.”

In high school, I was intrigued by the heart and thought I would become a cardiologist. But I changed my mind during college, when I took linguistics classes and conducted research on language processing in children. My professor introduced me to a neurologist, and I spent the day with him. I was fascinated by how different brain conditions can cause neurological problems. I wanted to work with children, so my professor suggested I become a pediatric neurologist.

At ��������Ƶ’s Pediatric Epilepsy Program, I provide comprehensive care to children who have epilepsy, headache, and developmental delays. In addition, as the director of the Tuberous Sclerosis Center, I take a multidisciplinary approach to managing this genetic disease, which causes benign tumors in the brain and other organs. It can lead to seizures, autism, behavior problems, and kidney disease. My research focuses on childhood epilepsy and developmental disabilities.

I evaluate a patient’s symptoms and create individualized treatment plans, which may include medication and lifestyle changes. When appropriate, I refer patients to a surgeon, neuropsychiatrist, psychiatrist, or physical, occupational, and speech therapists.

I educate parents about their child’s condition and recommend support groups. I work with ��������Ƶ’s Finding a Cure for Epilepsy and Seizures (FACES), the Epilepsy Foundation of Metropolitan New York, and Extraordinary People in Care (EPIC) Long Island to assist in improving the daily lives of patients with epilepsy. I believe in advocating for the rights of children with epilepsy.

I thoroughly enjoy caring for my patients and consider it a privilege to be involved in their lives. I love helping them achieve their goals.
